Capital Region – The State Capital building pictured below

The Capital Region of New York State is the location of our state’s government and is rich with history from our early Dutch settlers in the early 1600’s.

Located in the eastern portion of upstate NY, the Capital Region has distinguished itself as a premier travel and vacation destination. Not only does the Capital Region possess wealth of cultural events and art, but also draws in people of all interests with attractions such as the Baseball Hall of Fame, Howe Caverns, the Saratoga Race Course, Albany Institute of History and Art, Empire State Plaza, and Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC), along with beautiful parks with unlimited activities.

Within the Capital Region, Albany has established itself as the anchor city, the all American city. Albany Originally unveiled itself as an important trade route as it contained the largest inland port to service the westward and northward expansion throughout NY through the development of the Erie and Champlain Canal system.

Other cities that make up the Capital Region include Troy, Schenectady and the world famous Saratoga Springs. The Capital Region is home to one of the largest state governments in the country, as well as some of the finest colleges, universities, and large corporate headquarters such as GE, Albany Molecular, Pitney Bowes MapInfo, State Farm, future home of AMD’s Research and Development facility, and many others.

Our Capital Region is infiltrated with arts, fine dining, entertainment, and festivals/celebrations throughout the year. The Capital Region is a great place to live, work and play.
